Introducing ScoreLocker: Built by a Director, for Directors

Anyone who has managed a school music library knows the challenge. Cabinets fill up, folders move around, and over time it becomes harder to remember when a piece was last performed, what rating it earned at festival, or whether it even appears on your state’s prescribed music list.

That reality is what led us to create ScoreLocker, the first app we have developed through Crescendo Educational Consulting.

ScoreLocker is designed to make music library management simpler and more useful for working directors. It allows you to catalog your music, record when a piece was last performed, note festival appearances and ratings, and leave your own rehearsal or programming notes for the next time you pull the piece out.

One of the most helpful features is automatic state list searching. The app can check prescribed music lists and identify the appropriate grade level for a piece. If your list or piece isn’t found, you can enter the information yourself, and ScoreLocker will still verify it against available data to help ensure accuracy.

Directors can also attach recordings to each piece in their library. ScoreLocker can automatically find recordings and videos for many works, making it easy to reference professional performances while planning rehearsals or programming concerts. At the same time, you can add your own recordings, whether from a rehearsal, a past performance, or a preferred interpretation, so each piece gradually becomes a richer resource that reflects both trusted references and your own program’s history.

ScoreLocker wasn’t designed in a boardroom. It came from years of teaching band and orchestra in multiple schools and districts and dealing with the everyday realities of organizing a music library. The goal is simple: create a practical tool that actually helps directors stay organized and make better programming decisions.

If you manage a school music library, ScoreLocker was built with your daily work in mind. Download ScoreLocker now while it's free.
